At Way of the Cross Baptist Church we believe in supporting missionaries because: · The “Great Commission” (Matthew 28:19-20) commands us to spread the gospel to all the world. We could not accomplish this without dedicated missionaries, and they rely on our support. · Jesus commanded us to love our neighbor. Our missionaries are preaching and teaching to the lost world about God’s love. They have a compassion for lost sinners as Jesus did, so much that they leave their homes, family and good paying jobs in the United States to live in foreign countries with lower standards of living, foreign languages and often are in constant danger of their lives. · The Bible tells us: Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) Preachers sent “unto all the world.” (Mark 16:15); (Mark 13:10); (2 Corinthians 10:16); (Luke 24:47); and (Romans 10:15). · Missionaries: Jonah: (Book of Jonah) Paul and Barnabas: (Acts 13:2 through 14:28) Paul and Silas: (Acts 15:36 through 18:22) Paul: (Acts 18: 23 through 21:17) · Reciprocation (Carnal Things for Spiritual Things) (Romans 15:25-27); (I Corinthians 9:9-14) · Philippians supporting Paul (Philippians 4:14-18) · What some of our youth had to say about missions: Allie: “Go to a place you don’t live and talk about God.” Ayden: “Going on a trip to talk about God.” Calvin: “Obeying God.” McKinley: “Trusting and doing something for God.” Pray daily and Thank God for Missionaries who are willing to serve. “Then said I, Here am I; Send me.” (Isaiah 6:8)
